Renaming the file does not convert it

Changing .at3 to .mp3 or .wav only changes the name, not the audio encoding.

  1. Restore the original .at3 extension if you renamed it.
  2. Use a real converter such as FFmpeg or an audio application that can decode ATRAC3.
  3. Export or convert to a standard format after the file has been successfully decoded.

Security note

.AT3 files are audio data and are not expected to contain macros or scripts, but malformed media files can still trigger bugs in old or unpatched players.
